Manage employee leave without duplicate records
A practical workflow for keeping requests, approvals and balances attached to the employee record.
Leave management becomes difficult when requests live in email, balances live in a spreadsheet and employee details live somewhere else. The better starting point is one employee record and one approval trail.
Begin with the employee record
Confirm that active employees, managers and working schedules are current. Leave information is more useful when it retains the same person and company context used by attendance and payroll operations.
Make the request visible
A useful request includes the leave type, dates and current status. Managers should be able to distinguish pending, approved and declined requests without reconstructing the history from messages.
Keep balances next to decisions
Review available and used leave while approving the request. This reduces manual reconciliation and gives employees a clearer self-service experience.
Report by period
Use leave reports to review activity for a period or employee. The objective is not more reports; it is a consistent record that can be reviewed without rebuilding the data.
